I simply want to say that I was very pleased to see several answers to my question, when I first looked at the blog. I used to play 5-string, but put it down for years. Now I have taken up Plectrum, which I wish I had done a long time ago. My question was whether it was considered advantageous, or otherwise, to use the DGBD tuning for plectrum style playing. The information I found on the blog was encouraging, especially the news that Sean Moyses uses that tuning. Also, one of the bloggers confirmed my decision to stick with the tuning I had used on the 5-string, noting correctly that many chords are more easily available in DGBD tuning. I like the variety of voicings you get with it, too, for certain types of chords. It seems to me that CGBD tuning requires longer stretches of the fingers in some cases.
