First time posting here, though I have enjoyed reading a number of threads. I am posting today to ask if anyone knows much about KAY banjos. I'm about to be the new home of a 1960's (?) vintage model, and while any banjo gifted is probably a good thing, is this something I want to accept with just a smile and nod? Or is there a chance the thing is worth repairing/restoring in hopes of actually playing it? I am mercenary enough to want big dollar value...just wondering whether I'll be leaning it the corner or tryna play it.
