Bacon Belmont

I have a Bacon Belmont serial 107.  The pot and neck were painted white.  I am wondering if it was painted by an owner or by the factory.  The paint on the neck is holding up perfectly, but the pot is flaking.  Serial #107 makes it the first Belmont produced by Gretsch.
