Deering's Jamming School for banjo players is offered Friday through Sunday, June 15-17 during Huck Finn's Jubilee. FREE for beginning and intermediate banjo players, and taught by Andy Rau, the school gives banjo players the tools to start picking with other musicians. Beginners learn to roll and play their chords in time and understand chord progressions. Intermediate players learn how to insert licks into chord progressions to create solos and play backup. The goal - to be able to jump in and play whatever song that's thrown at you in a jam session - not just add to your song portfolio.
Register 30 minutes prior to class at the Mountain Man Village shelter in Mojave Narrows Regional Park, Victorville CA.. Classes run from 10am to 12 noon for beginners, and 2pm to 4pm for intermediate banjo players, Friday and Saturday, June 15-16. A combined jam runs 12 noon to 2pm on Sunday, June 17.
Special campgrounds for jamming are available for pickers, but you must call 951-780-8810 to get your site. Maps, workshops, and jamming school locations are available at www.huckfinn.com.
