Ozark Things

Monday, May 26, 2008

I reacently made the purchess of an Ozark 2142GN from eagle music. Its fantastic I payed 329 for it and it plays linke an OB-250. I've been rattleing out tunes and learing new tunes faster than ever I can now FINALLY play "Reuben" in D. There are couple of bad bits about it like the tailpiece for example is cheap , a clamshell but i'm thinking about forking out for a heavey Kreshner straightline. Likewise the head is a fairly poor quality remo one but I have orderd a ressistance head to improve the overall quality of the banjo. The bridge has been replaced with a compensated scorpion bridge to dull it down a little. To dull it further I use light gage picks and strings. I'v been learing many tunes with scruggs tuner sections in them but I don't own D-Tuners yet. Unfortunatly in the UK you can't buy keith tunners so I'm going to opt for the cheaper Schaller ones instead. The banjo itself is made from blone mahogony, very nice looking mahogony, and the resonator has a pattern of conentric circles on it. The fingerboard has an attractive mother of pearl pattern inlayed into a ebony fretboard. It also has very attractive crome hardware and an engraved armrest. Overall its a fantastic banjo great value for money and I would reccomend it to anyone due to its looks and price. 4 comments

Hi I'm Finn I've been interested in banjo since I was very young but picked it up when I was 14 and have not stop picking. I've become increasingly interested in bluegrass and Scruggs style banjo. Other than the banjo I play guitar , mandolin and drums.
