I bought my Paramount tenor banjo in 1981 from Gerald Trimble and the two of us took a trip to The British Isles. There I met Tony Sullivan and he showed me how to play banjo using a thimble and I've used it ever since. I played with Gerald in a Kansas City based Irish band called Talisman for a couple of years were I played banjo, mandolin, fiddle and guitar. Then along with Roger Landes and Mike Dugger we started a band called Scartaglen which had many members through the years including Connie Dover. I've played in a number of bands through the years including Blackthorne, The Shoe String Band, Kelly and currently Scarlet Town.
