I am an amateur guitar player, and I would like to learn something about the banjo. Because of my background in classical and flamenco I have never played on anything but nylon strings and have always played with my finger nails. This is the only way I have ever done it. I have tried to use finger picks before, and that's something that just won't work for me. My pastor is going to loan me what he describes as a 5 string "minstrel" banjo with nylon strings. I'm going to try to start teaching myself on that. Later when I'm better informed I'm going to look into getting my own instrument. I'd appreciate any recommendations.
