I would say bassist if I had to pick one instrument I'm most proficient at. I've played for about 20 years now and been working on slapping the upright bass for the last couple years. I play in a couple local bands but I'm working on expanding my skills to include some lead playing. While fiddling, I hooked up with a great clawhammer player (shoutout to Dusty Lee Elmer!!) and he inspired me to play some banjo in my spare time. Was surfing craigslist for a 5-string and got tempted to instead trade my acoustic guitar for a banjo-mandolin despite the fact that most rational people seem to find them "obnoxious" at best. Been having a great time on the fiddlehangout so figured I would check this sister site out for my banjo needs.
