I play a Vega Vox (1950's) plectrum length banjo, tuned like the top four strings of the guitar. (EBGD-top down)
Any reccomendations of string gauges? wound G?
Not happy with the tone either. Suggestionns on bridge and set up?
Also looking for another banjo. This VV is too damn heavy, tough to control in my lap, slides around with the slippery finish and configuration of the body. Reccos? B&D Silver Bell, Weyman? Paramount?
I have 7 piece traditional jazz band. (started on the tenor banjo but not very popular with the rest of the band!)
My primary instrument now is arch top accoustic (playing Freddy Green style) rhythm guitar. No amp.
