I began playing banjo when I was 15 years of age after my father bought me a banjo for my birthday (crazy gift I thought!). My twin brother had been playing guitar for about 4 years and Dad thought I should play something too. Dueling Banjos had been a hit the year before, and this gave him the idea - thanks Dad! It took a year to find a teacher in Brisbane Australia, but we ended up finding one within walking distance from home; life can be strange! Been hooked ever since, and if you play banjo you know what I mean. I have taught 5 string for over 30 years, been setting up and repairing them for over 20 and now making them for nearly 10 years, under the Bellbird banner. Love the sound, love the mystique, love the joy a banjo brings, love how bluegrass music brings people together. Happy pickin' to all!
