I was born in the province of Groningen (1953). I'm making Bluegrass music since 1970 and I taught myself playing the 5-string banjo, guitar and the upright bass. Played banjo in different bands; "The Clinch Mountain Backstep", "Grass Grow", "Northern Bluegrass", "Close To Home", "Stringtime" and nowadays in "Janis McCoury" . During my 2 ½ year stay in the USA and Canada I played as a guest musician in different local Bluegrass bands in Louisiana and Utah. I played the upright bass in "The Old Home Bluegrass Boys", "The Old Home Bluegrass Band" and "Close To Home". I play a 1975 Gibson RB 250 banjo. My favorite musicians are "The Dillards", "The Johnson Mountain Boys", "The Hillmen", Del McCoury and other traditional Bluegrass Bands and musicians.
