I bought my first Mastertone in Hollywood, CA in 1974. I picked it out in their upstairs warehouse out of about 30 or so, it was a model 250 Gibson "mastertone" and i paid $744.00. I sold it in 1984 for 450.00 to a retired gentlemen and bought an Earl Scruggs model in Atlanta, GA in 1989 and will play this one from now on, i suppose. Funny thing, every music store or pawn shop i've ever been in, if they had a Gibson at all, usually only had one Gibson banjo, when the store sold it, they would order one more.. couldn't or wouldn't hold more for the expense i guess, The RB 800 was the ONE when i was growing up and now there's plenty to choose.
