I refer to the archived post http://www.banjohangout.org/archive/178223 The Bass banjo from the Scott Chinery collection which landed up at the Banjo Museum the video of which is at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qOlL9egZeXM the gentleman from the museum states that this bass banjo is the only one produced by Gibson. The bass banjo was advertised and produced by Gibson between 1930 and 1933.This one was apparently made in 1929 before the commercial run I happen to own TWO of these bass banjos which were ordered by Charlie Macrow a famous banjoist and multi instrumentalist who also taught banjo guitar and mandolin and also has a full banjo mandolin and guitar band, I bought the first one from his son many years ago as well as the complete collection of his banjos mandolins hawaiian guitarsand guitars etc from his son Brian who verified that the neck has been replaced with a genuine specially ordered Gibson neck and I also have the original neck. The second one was offered to me by a general dealer in used stuff years later. That one is completely original.The necks are the same except for the Forentine appoimntments on the headstock Otherwise the fretboard resonator etc are about the same.There are supposed to be at least ten of these Bass Banjos made.Yes the Florentine one may be unique but it is not as suggested the one of a kind instrument made by Gibson,
