Deliverance??

Monday, September 23, 2013

The only thing the movie "Deliverance"  did for me was make me hate it that the producers made banjo players look like backward inbreds. That just started the ball rolling. Case in point, the t-shirt saying, "Paddle faster, I hear banjo music".  Now just about every time something is on T V about the Ozarks, Appalachia, or a rual area, some braindead, techincal director, clown has got to put  banjo music in the background.(Not counting folk or bluegrass documentaries.) The joke is dead.  Give it up people. We're tired of the crap.

My Instruments:
Fender Artist five string with custom neck. 1924 Vega tubaphone resonator with custom neck. 1928 Vega tubaphone open back with custom longneck(main performing banjo). Custom five string converted to four string plectrum for Dixieland gigs. Morrison "C" banjo. Five string banjo made from schedule 80 sewer pipe.

Favorite Bands/Musicians:
Most of the old time musicians like Uncle Dave, Stringbean(taught me frailing), Jimmie Rodgers, Carter Family, Gid Tanner, etc. New musicians like Dirk Powell, Riley Boggus. Any of the old timers around my area who will let me collect from them. Of course Pete Seeger and Earl Scruggs who started the banjo rolling(no pun intended).
