Friend in deed

Tuesday, June 2, 2009

One day a little over a month ago a good friend of mine came over while I was throwing pots on the wheel (I am a potter) .

She handed me a card when I had wiped the clay off my hands, it was a gift certificate for 6 music lessons at our local music store, any instrument of my choosing.

I was stunned, it was really out of the blue. She asked me what I thought I would try and I literally blurted out Banjo. She then walked out to her car and pulled out a brand new banjo and handed to me and said well I guess you will need this!  I was speechless. I was able to take my first lesson about 4 hours later and it's been the best month ever!

My husband was there when all this took place, and after she left he said "I wonder how many instruments she had in the car?"   : )

It was out of the blue, but not out of character for this extremely generous and kind person. She is a bass player (& MD) and her husband is a drummer who jams regularly with my drumming husband.

At any rate I aim to do the gift proud by practicing daily and gaining proficiency on such a cool instrument. I LOVE it!

I hope to make loads of friends here and find the advice for beginners that I so need.

: )
