Played banjo with John Lennon's Quarrymen 1956-57, was replaced by Paul McCartney. Got into bluegrass at university and then old timey. Also play guitar, fiddle and mandolin. Played with bluegrass groupThe Bluegrass Ramblers in Liverpool (1964-68) and London in the 1980's, plus other outfits such as the Hash House String Ticklers and the Armadillos. Lennon's Quarrymen re-formed in 1997 but I am afraid that I play mostly guitar with them!
