As a guitar player/ performer/ songwriter, I tried not to be influenced by what other writers were doing. As a banjo player, I have been working on pieces that interest me from Irish Music to pieces like The Teddy Bear's Picnic and Putting On The Ritz. I use Musescore 4 to write music then turn it into tabs so I can play it and eventually learn it. I did put up a version of Pete Seeger's "Living In The Country" in the Hangout music section, but I've since made some changes as I became more proficient.
