Practice makes Perfect

Well that's what they say. What is missing is the word eventually. I had forgotten how starting out with an instrument can be. I'm not one of those lucky few who can pick up a guitar or banjo and seem to have a natural talent or ear for playing. That's all right, I'm a lot older now and have learned that practice may be difficult at first, but there is time to get it right. I don't have to rush to know everything at once. I close my eys and keep visualizing in my mind what I'm doing. I find keeping focused is the hardest part. But it gets easier the more I try. Soon there are small accomplishments like running through a few chords and not screwing up the pattern of plucking the strings. The best way for me to learn sometning is to do it. I'm having a blast, I feel like a kid learning to ride a bike. This is a lot of fun. But I don't know why the dog runs out of the room when I go to pick up the banjo! lol, oh well, at least I think I'm starting to sound good. 2 comments

I've been playing guitar for a while but would really enjoy learning how to play the banjo. I can finger pick on the guitar so I'm hoping I should be able to pick it up with playing the banjo. I have just picked up my instrument today so I have absolutely no experience with it. But I must say I have been in love with the sound all my life!
