I've been terribly ill the last couple weeks & after a full round of antibiotics I'm still dragging butt. On the upside however I just won an auction on eBay for a Deering Classic Goodtime! I also sold an old mandolin on Craigslist so it was "almost" an even trade. After meeting the buyer I shot over to Elderly & picked up the parts I'll need to Zeppify both of my banjos. The Classic will be my traveling banjo that I'll take in the semi with me. I seriously miss my practice sessions on nights that I have to spend in the truck. Honestly I don't even consider it practice, I'm having that much fun!
I bought a package deal of books,Cd's & DVD's from frailingbanjo.com that I'm using as a guide. I discovered Patrick Costello's youtube channel & really like his method & attitude. I had watched several videos & his explanation of the basic frailing technique was most clear to me. My greatest trepidation is playing & singing at the same time. There's just so much going on rythmnically with the clawhammer that I just know when I try to add lyrics my hands will fail to keep the beat. This will be my greatest hurdle but I will keep at it until I pull it off!
