Big Hand Problems

I have noticed that not many people with big hands or big fingers play stringed instruments. Most have long, spindley fingers. My roommates say that I have "meat hooks." Haha. I guess my hands are a bit big and meaty. I have noticed, though, that my knuckles lock up a lot more frequently than my friends who play guitar (the ones with thin fingers). Does anyone else with big hands and fingers have some trouble with dexterity?
