I am a guitar player, so I know very little about a banjo, who just got a banjo that was not in very good shape. While I do not think it is a very expensive banjo, I am replacing the head and ran into the following problem. I first measured the rim of the banjo and it measures 11". The ring that holds the head in place has an inside diameter of 11 1/4 inches so it wants to slide over the rim of the new head. It appears that the old head had a wider head rim so it worked. It appears that I need a different head that has a wider rim or I need a smaller ring that holds the head down. Any suggestions?
