Played 12 string guitar in a folk group in the early/mid 60's - sold it in late 60's. Just retired and am looking to buy a beginner banjo. Found a Gold Tone CC OT in a local music store on sale for $250 and have a few questions. Would this be a good banjo to learn on and play for the next 5-6 years? Can the guitar tuners be retro fitted for planetary tuners directly or does this require drilling and such (just prefer the old-time look)? Have an Antares that we bought our son in the mid 80's and it is just frustrating me. Hard to fret, uneven frets, etc. Time to get something better and thought the CC OT would be about right.
