A professional pianist for over 30 years (classical, jazz and commercial styles), I first became interested in Bluegrass from the tireless efforts of John Carlini. I began to play the mandolin. While at Augusta bluegrass week almost 10 years ago, I was exposed to oldtime music there. I knew I had found my calling. Brought back the unabashed joy of the musical amateur. Finally came to the banjo, as I have always been fascinated by the combination of rhythmic energy and melodic capability. I was trying to play the mando like a banjo. Why not the real thing! I'm hooked now!
