Piano is my main instrument. I trained in classical music as a lad, but also played for singsongs, barn dances, and so on, and consequently ended up knowing a lot of popular American music up to about the 50s: jazz, folk, rockabilly, rock'n'roll, western swing and such. Learned ukulele as a child from my father, expanded to guitar, but prefer banjo. Play jazz banjo (mainly plectrum) from playing piano in jazz bands for over 30 years. Just taking up bluegrass banjo, which I've also always loved. The main hard part is that the fingering is different for the different types of banjo!
