Hi everyone -
I’m helping spread the news about an exciting project that I think you’ll be interested in: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1207511959/doc-watson-family-milestones
Nancy Watson, the only daughter of legendary Doc Watson, and Roy Andrade (who you may know from tours like O Brother Where Art Thou and Cold Mountain) announced a brand new box set of Doc’s music and the music of the entire Watson Family, called Doc Watson Family Milestones. It is a 94-song, four-CD box set of previously unreleased music, as well as photo collages and accompanying book.
It’s set for release April 2013, but the Watson Family and their record label have started a Kickstarter to make sure the project happens. You can check it out here: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1207511959/doc-watson-family-milestones
The rewards are personal items from Doc’s own collection – I pledged to support the project in exchange for a capo that Doc used on-stage and in the studio! There’s some really great stuff. You can also pre-order the box set as a pledge reward.
There is even Doc’s personal Hammered Dulcimer / Lap Steel Guitar / Cigar Box Guitar available as a pledge rewards!
This is a worthy cause and seems like something that readers of Banjo Hangout might be interested in. I hope that they can make this happen with our support!
