The last post I asked about the best "starter" banjo. I got some good advice and bought a Deering Goodtime II (with a resonator) right from the factory in So Cal. Thanks all who helped.
Now my question(s):
1. What is the best for a newbie to start off with? Clawhammer or Bluegrass?
2. I bought a bluegrass lesson book and am having the devil's own time with the fingering. I feel like all thumbs and am getting very frustrated and/or discouraged. Can anyone give some simple advice with fret and string fingering? Even the simplest advice would be very helpful.

None, I love the sound of the banjo and really want to learn. Although, I think I am setting my expectations way too high right now.
