Well my story really begins way back when I was about 5 in primary school, when the class was given tin whistle lessons on a weekly basis.I got to learn basic tunes and eventually Irish tunes like waltzes, polkas etc. Fast forward a couple of years I took up piano briefly for a short period and around this time I got to listen to a lot of Irish groups such as The Dubliners, The Clancys & Tommy Makem, Sweeney's Men, Planxty etc. From listening to Ronnie Drew & Luke Kelly especially, the singer in me began to show. My first banjo I bought at 15 was a CC Gold Tone tenor banjo but my passion was for the long neck 5 string, where I bought from AndyBanjo in England, a Grafton Clipper Long Neck, which served me for my first 5 years of my music career. Discovering more artists and recordings brought me to the street singing style of Ireland with Margret Barry and Pecker Dunne with there zither banjos.I currently have two made by Windsor and Cammeyer, both over 100 years old respectively. My current music machine is the Gold Tone OT-800LN, with a Vega Long Neck on the way from Deering. My first gigs where in my local and as time grew I began to travel further afield for more gigs and taking part in many festivals and fleadh around Ireland. Im also a teacher of many other instruments including banjo for complete beginners which I'm delighted to be able to do as there are not a lot 5 string teachers around my area.
