Hi,
I have wanted to play an instrument for as long as I can remember, tried a guitar, with very limited success. Every now and again I get a burst of inspiration and look into it again. The most recent being encouraged by a BBC series called play it again. Minor celebs who have never played an instrument are taught to play and given a task to complete at the end. The tasks seem quite daunting like performing at top level events in front of huge audiences with professional musicians.
Anyway, fueled by this and my long term ambitions to play ( purely for fun) I have ended up buying a banjo online. Its nothing posh, bought it on ebay for £50.00, just to see if I can make some ground and start to play at least a few recognizable tunes. I'm going out today to get some finger picks and maybe an idiots starting guide.
I would really appreciate any comments or tips from anyone who has any experience at all with the banjo, at any level. I hope that this is going to be something that I can enjoy and any the slightest encouragement would mean a lot.
