I have found that practicing never seems to reveal its value until I play with a group.  I don't manage to achieve what I practice but what I do come up with sounds good in the whole.  Practice tends to discourage me, playing with others encourages me.

Sarted playing banjo in the early 80's and even managed to take a few lessons. Then life took over and the banjo traveled with me and gathered dust until I pulled it out in the late 90's. I made a few attempts to play with the church band and had some fun but again let life interfer. So I am now in a group that is patient with my attempts. Each time we play together I learn something new about playing. I really like the scruggs style.
