There may be red-necks
And hill-billies a-hollering
When Earl plays the five string
But I don't think of farms
Or pigs a-wallering
When I hear the Jed Clampett theme
I hear the sounds
Of practice and skill
Mixed with a bluegrass twang
Fiddles and banjos
Brought down from the hills
Un-noticed, un-wanted, un-famed
I think of hammers, slides
And pull-offs
How tricky the three finger style
If you compare Earl Scruggs
To today's show-offs
He'd beat them all by a mile
So you can call us in-bred
Stupid and corn-fed
Hill-billies from counties around
But let your ears have a look
And I think you'll be hooked
On The Foggy Mountain Breakdown
