I'm typing this from my phone at work so it might not be the best introductory blog post here on banjo hangout.
I guess I'll start with my background. I've never played a stringed instrument aside from a couple guitar lessons when i was little. I'm 29 now and I just picked up the banjo on Tuesday.
Luckily i have the benefit of having my father close by for daily lessons. He plays clawhammer style and I am trying to learn Scruggs style (Is that the same as 3 finger picking?) He's also teaching me some clawhammer as it's most comfortable for him to play. Were sort of learning scruggs style together.
I practice with him anywhere from half an hour to an hour everyday and ive been doing at least an hour of solo practice after or before we meet. I'm working on my rolls and fret hand and starting with cripple creek.
So far I'm addicted. It's so much fun. Can't wait to pick up the banjer as soon as I get home.
