I figured I’d write a little introduction since I’ve been hanging around here a bit more lately.
First off — yes, my username “BANJO-ane” is a joke. My name is Joane Creekmore, and I promise there isn’t some deep mystery behind it. It’s just a play on my name, and I don’t take it too seriously — so you don’t have to either.
What I do take seriously is learning banjo.
I didn’t come from a big bluegrass background, and I’m not someone who grew up playing in a family band or anything like that. I just genuinely enjoy the sound of the instrument — that bright snap, the rhythm it adds, and how it can carry a tune or drive a whole song forward.
Lately I’ve been focusing on:
Getting cleaner rolls
Improving timing with a metronome
Making my chords transition smoother
Actually finishing songs instead of just playing the fun parts
I’ve also realized setup and tone matter more than I thought. Head tension, bridge placement, picking position — it all adds up.
Anyway, I just wanted to properly introduce myself and say I appreciate how much knowledge gets shared here. I may joke around with the username, but I’m here to learn and improve.
If anyone has advice on tightening up timing or building speed without getting sloppy, I’m all ears.
—Joane Creekmore (yes, that part’s real)

Hi, I’m Joane Creekmore — and before anything else, yes, the username BANJO-ane is just a joke. Please do not take it seriously. It’s literally just a banjo pun. Again: it’s a joke. Not serious. Not dramatic. Just banjo + Joane. Now that we’ve cleared that up (because BANJO-ane is absolutely just a joke), I play flute, kazoo, piano, banjo, guitar, trumpet, and xylophone. Basically, if it makes noise, I’ll try it at least once. My favorite band is Me, Myself, and I — we work very well together creatively. No conflicts. No egos. Just pure talent. If you see the username BANJO-ane, please remember: it’s a joke. I promise I am not trying to start a banjo-themed alter ego arc. It is simply wordplay. Banjo. Joane. BANJO-ane. That’s it. Here to make music, have fun, and maybe kazoo at inappropriate times. (And one last time, just in case: the username is a joke.)
