More About Me

Nechville started in Tom's home garage shop in the 1980's, building and repairing banjos and other stringed instruments. Early prototypes of the Heli-mount banjo were introduced in 1989.
Tom produced banjos in Bloomington, Minnesota, constantly innovating and introducing new models and refinements into the banjo world.
In 2020, Tom purchased and renovated a property in Sisters, Oregon, with the goal to move all aspects of the company.
In 2022, Tom opened Nechville Banjos West in Sisters, Oregon, the current home of Tom Nechville Custom Shop.
The Bloomington shop closed February, 2024 so Tom could focus on designing and building custom banjos himself in beautiful Sisters, Oregon.
Tom’s goal is to innovate to meet the changing needs of modern musicians. Reducing nearly seventy parts of a traditional banjo to two has benefited thousands of Heli-Mount players with time saving and purer banjo sound. Tom's electric banjos and pickups continue to find solutions and feed the evolution of the banjo.

Comments

Tom I have read with great interest how the Nechville banjo has influenced the music, congratulations. Do you open your facility for a visit? I live in northern Minnesota, currently play a Deering Calico, but have a n interest in the Nechville Phantom. Pete - PeterMac
