I Worked as a carpenter and later as a project manager in mill work projects and construction for 25 years. I always kept my hands busy working with wood and repairing furniture or musical instruments.

During the last 15 years I have rebuild and made more than 400 banjos and always have some interesting vintage ones on the side waiting to be put back to life. I also made many replacement and conversion necks for 5 strings and 4 strings banjos.

Purchased a partial restored &part new/custom from Carl recently. I haven't been able to out it down.

Dealing with Carl was a pleasure. He answered all my questions. And once I was on board for the purchase all fell into place like clockwork.

The workmanship is top notch and the tone and intonation is beyond my expectations.

I was fortunate to have just purchased a Gibson Trap Door that Carl restored. It looks brand new. The action is perfect and it plays easily with a great frailing tone. His work is truly excellent. Due to a strike by Canadian postal workers, it was unclear when the banjo would or could actually get here to San Diego. Carl took it upon himself to drive the banjo to the US and mail it to me. five days later it arrived. Way above what the situation demanded. I would have waited but the thought of postal workers tossing the package around was daunting. I thought that all of the postage was separate from the purchase price but I was wrong. Carl had already charged me about $120 for shipping, so mailing it in the US cost $80 more. I hadn't realized that he had already charged me shipping from Canada so there was $80 overpayment. Neither Carl nor I realized what had happened. He assumed a bonus for his trouble getting it to USPS and his gas expense. That it should have been. However, this is an instance where the Universe makes happen what should have happened in the first place. All things considered, I'm truly happy with my purchase and I hope Carl is happy with how it all worked out. - rowdyboy
