I have spent the last six months learning and experimenting with setup and tweaking my B-14 and arrived at a semi-satisfactory location.
However, the one thing that constantly irritated me was the rim. Laminate, multi-ply, and the shoe holes were cut off center on about half of them causing the hooks to run crooked to the head hoop. That along with the heavy coating/finish convinced me that I could get a little more out of the banjo with a block rim. So the search began.

Long story simplified, after posting and asking several questions, Randall Wyatt (BHO - RANDALL) contacted me and encouraged me to get one of his European Beech rims. I listened to sound files and read reviews from several other BHO members and liked what I heard. So I ordered one from him. I shipped the rim and hardware to him and he's finished with it. I expect it to arrive back to me tomorrow and will assemble the banjo and post a photo and video review of the new rim. Stay tuned....

	pddngtn says: 1/20/2012 7:16:39 AM Only a suggestion but if I am understanding the issue the holes don't line up with the tension hoop detents? Wouldn't it be simpler / less costly to address the tension hoop? Either one without detents or one cut with detents to match the holes. Sorry to hear they let that one out. The only issue I have with my B-16 is a small flaw on the fretboard from the factory, annoying.
	BlueRanchRider says: 1/20/2012 7:50:10 AM If the holes were my only issue it would be easier and cheaper to go to grooved tension hoop. The design and construction of the rim are not to my desire, hence the new rim.
