Hi buddies!
I have a Tranjo Express for quite some time and the truth is I am very happy, for several reasons: First, the ability to transport everywhere. I fly a lot and is perfect for this purpose. Second, it's beautiful (to me it seems) and very comfortable to play. I use it even at home many times, I have always hand out of its case, unlike my bluegrass banjo. And the third, so grateful to my back and my shoulder ...
But not everything is good in this banjo, and as we know, you have to pay with something: the volume!
I'm thinking something about how to solve this problem, because in my travels often play with other musicians and always stay behind ...
My question is for Sam Farris or anyone who has tried to do something about this problem.
Now I have a good quality bridge. I also ordered a friend Luthier build a small resonator. But it seems that not too noticeable ...
My questions:
You can tighten the head in any way? In fact ... is possible to replace the head? It would help to do this with the volume increase?
I had thought about changing to a small hand drum tunable. I bought a cheap, 8 ', for testing ... but it is too big for the place that is in the Tranjo ... My be install a banjolele POT?
Anyone think they could improve the volume of this shape? worth it?
Gracias desde España!
