Hi, to everyone,,,, I have played guitar and ukulele, for a long while. I have been searching you tube, for 1920's type songs, to sing with my uke. I have allways been into banjo's, my uncle had one when I was a child, and I grew up listening to old records. After watching old clips I have the bug. I want to learn the tenor banjo, and this melody chord type of solo playing. I have found a tutor book, called first lessons, with a cd and dvd, and I am thinking of buying an, Ozark tenor banjo, what do other members think of this. any advice anyone. Pete.

	beetlegeist says: 11/30/2011 1:43:56 PM Welcome to the group, Pete. I hope you received my reply to your e-mail. I strongly suggest you go for a good make right from the start. I started with a cheap tenor and could not get on with it. I have a Deering now and could not be happier with it.

I am going to look around for a good tenor banjo, and a good tutor book, or dvd or whatever I can find. There is no music teachers local, as I know of, and I have looked, I might go for someone on the net, and look into that. Thank you both Pete.

I have played a guitar and a ukulele, since I was at school, and I like to think, I was quite good, on them both. But I have never had the courage, to play for anyone, not even family and friends. I really don't know why, but I suppose I am quite shy really. A bit backward, at coming forward, my gran used to say. How can I break out of this, Have you any suggestions. Pete.
	banjopa says: 12/1/2011 8:27:46 AM Yes Pete, start by preparing a song. Rehearse until you can't get it wrong. Then have one or 2 people you are close to, come and listen to you. Or if that is a bit daunting for you, record yourself playing and play the recording for them. Or you can send me the recording and I will listen to it.
