This group is here with the aim to sound out vendors and instruments on behalf of other interested group members not local to the{a} vendor.

As the market for instruments has become increasingly global, the idea of such a group is to partially reinstate the idea of 'buying local' by offering a network of trusted and informed players able to actually go and visit a seller [and instrument] on behalf of other group members. This is a voluntary service and will rely on the relationships developed between group members, over a period of time. No one is suggesting themselves as a banjo specialist or aficionado, but we can tell if a banjo actually exists, if the seller is who, where or what they say they are, and if everything provisionally checks out as advertised.

I have purchased all of my 'better' banjos sight unseen, from outside my country of residence, and from vendors i have never before [or since] met. I have not experienced any problems thus far however this [brilliant] idea [of Beegees] allows a little more local information about sellers and instruments to be made available to prospective buyers through this network and others like it.
