I've put together some brief info on the sources for Ralph's new 'The Definitive Collection - American Icon' CD...

22 tracks from 2004 - 2013...

	Buzzbomb says: 8/15/2016 3:52:22 PM He did re-record a lot of material, but probably out of necessity because it wasn't available at the time, and the old stuff was being requested by fans - at least that' what I've read. In the 80s, John Wright said that Ralph's albums would only sell about 5,000 copies, which is remarkably low, even if many sales would be direct at gigs. Doing a very rough count I get about 1,069 unique songs recorded (or performed) by Ralph or the Stanley Brothers... which would work out at about 89 albums, without duplication, with 12 tracks a piece. It's a lot less than Jack Cooke/Ralph used to claim on stage.. but (as you say) there was a lot of re-recording. It reminds me of an old Clash / Adverts punk poster that advertised something like : one night, two bands, three chords...
