Welcome

From bakerratliff on 1/29/2011 9:32:40 AM

Glad to see a few people showing up on here so far.  Please feel free to post anything or any happenings going on in South Carolina banjo related.

If you are in the upstate dont forget to check out Gene Dillards Bluegrass jam every Tuesday at 8:30 at the Handlebar in Greenville.  There are some great pickers there and they welcome any kind of music (scruggs or clawhammer).

I live in Florence. We have a concert on the 1st saturday of every month at Lnches River State Park. It feaures lots of local talent and just lots of jamming and every once in a while someone big like The lonesome River Band shows up. There's also a weekly jam every Friday night at Cain's BBQ.

I also heard about a festival the last weekend of March at the Congaree State Park. I don't know all the details yet.

I knew they had one last October called the Congaree Bluegrass Fest in Cayce, SC. Some guys I know (Last Road Bluegrass) played there but I have not heard if they have scheduled any for this year. Let me know if you hear more about it and anyboydy should check out Last Road Bluegrass (they are from around the Greenville area)
