Does anyone know of any good jams in town? If not, is anyone interested in starting one?

There are some jams at some churches around town. I haven't been to any yet.
Randy (Frailer23) and myself are involved in the Bluegrass Marathon Jam at Grandpa Eddies on the 26th of Feb. It was loaded with folks last year.

I second Yard Onion's suggestion. It's at Grandpa Eddie's on Three Chopt Rd., from noon to midnight. We are raising money for Fisher House, which provides free room and board to families of soldiers recuperating at McGuire Veterans Hospital. Admission free and all are welcome to participate. We raised $6,000 last year.

Maybe we can all plan an outing to one of these jams pretty soon. It would be fun getting to know some other pickers. And how sweet would it be to have 5-6 banjos playing cripple creek for hour and hours LOL

Thanks for making this group Balt - I picked up the 5 string a few months ago and have been dying for some Richmond jams (everyone I usually play with is in Roanoke). I'll definitely be at Grandpa Eddie's and might check out the Jahnke Rd church jam tomorrow night since I'm pretty close by (Midlothian). Will anyone else be there?

I'm in Charter Colony west of 288 - sounds like we're pretty close by. I e-mailed Gary about tonight - he said there's usually over 100 people there! O_O should be a fun time.

hey all - glad to be a part of the group. I run a pretty tight schedule most of the time balancing work and school but would like to play some in a low key setting. I really only know a few tunes and am really wanting to expand. I have heard Carytown Cafe has Sunday afternoon jams that are pretty good. Has anyone been to one of these?
