Pickin the banjer, entertaining the wife, wonderful evening. Been a musician most of my life, but the banjo.......always on the back burner for some reason or another. Till now. At 59, I finally decided ok, enough is enough. A classic case of being a regretful picker. My wife says that I am obsessed by that piece of wood, metal and plastic and It has taken total control of every scrap of sanity I have left. If so, I suppose it was meant to be. Destiny. It can be a beautiful thing.I am lovin every minute.

I started at age 50. Been pickin' for 8 months now. Good used banjo $2500.00, Pics (till I found the ones that fit and worked for me) $25.00,
books and videos to learn how $138.00, Lessons from a real teacher when I discovered I couldn't "do it myself" $480.00 so far.
Being able to play Foggy Mountain Breakdown up to speed.......PRICELESS!!! :)

Sounds like you have the upper hand the playin. Where I live there's not any banjo pickers that i know of. I been workin on a new style , it started out as clawhammer, but it sounds more like sledgehammer if you know what i mean. But it can only get better, right?

Thanks for the moral support eknjr, I'll keep that in mind.

If your too old to learn, stay home in the closet.

The sun shine'in through the window, dog's asleep on the porch', 29* outside. Snow, snow every where. Coffee on the stove. Awesome. Think I'll take the banjo out on the porch' and do a pick-or two. Life is good.
