What capo do you use for Prucha?

Hi all, I have just been experimenting to see the difference in neck widths and capo fit on my two banjos. The Gibson with repro neck is 1.41 at B and the Prucha Fall in Love more like 1.44. This makes the standard size 1.4 Paige capo a little tight at B but does work. I have the original Paige and the click design, the latter is easier/quicker to get on and off but the original has a better designed saddle and centralises more easily. I stopped using Shubb last year, too much tonal loss and pitch change. I have considered bending the Paige a tiny bit but this would effect an undesirable change in the mechanism.

What capo do you use, why and have you had a similar experience? I am aware of the various other makes - maybe one day a push button McKinney Elliot when I get offered an expensive present (unlikely) or sell my kidneys! 😂

	Beardog says: 3/20/2016 7:29:37 AM Planet waves NS trio (cheap) and G7 radiused (more expensive). Both work great, better than anything I have tried, and I've tried them all for radius neck banjos and mandolins. The McKinney/Elliot/Huber, etc., have never been as good for me (on radius necks). If the NS Trio or G7th doesn't work well on you Prucha, then you need to tweak the bridge position slightly until things come into tune for you with the capo. Another added benefit of the two capos that I have recommended is that you can also use them above the 4th fret, in those rare occasions that you might need to do so.
	jswkingsfield says: 3/20/2016 7:59:47 AM +1 on what Sam (beardog) said. The G7th has the disadvantage of being bulky, but it's the best I've tried for my radius necked banjo.
	Waltraud says: 3/20/2016 10:12:44 AM Thanks folks. My neck is flat and I do really like the Paige/Elliot design, I like the fact that the pitch changes v little, they are light and unobtrusive. Storage behind the nut is also good for poor memory! I have not yet tried a G7.....

Use a Paige capo on my Prucha which has a wide neck and radius board and it works fine but funnily enough I had to try three to find one that fit properly! Luckily the music shop had several out of the packaging. Never thought they would vary so much as they are all made the same way.
	GoldSprkl says: 3/20/2016 3:50:00 PM I think Bill Stokes still makes the best. I got one from him last year and love it! Think it's 10 or 11 degrees radius. Not cheap but the best IMHO. Good luck! Dennis
	Beardog says: 3/22/2016 7:14:28 AM Sorry, I just assumed you had a radius neck! My favorite capo for a flat fret board is a Kat Eyez (too lazy to look up the correct spelling, just a close guess!) made for a V-neck...but it works on any type neck profile.

Am currently ok with my Paige and Paige clic but will save up for a stoles, Elliot push button or the other one .....maybe when I'm in Canada next year I'll get one sent ( aunt and uncle live in Montreal) . 	KCBanjonut says: 4/12/2019 4:53:21 PM I have a Spirit model with a radius fingerboard. I ordered Shubb Fine Tuning capo for Radius. I emailed them when I found the capo radius was a tiny bit off from my banjo. (It touched the center before the edges.) They responded to my email in less that 30 minutes! They bent me a new one with a wee bit tighter curvature. It arrived in three days and for perfectly. I mailed them back the first one. It was great customer support and I have loved this capo ever since.
