Got my "new" 2001 Prucha Legend in maple from Greg Boyd a couple of weeks ago and I have to say it definitely lives up to the hype. I was hesitant because I had never played or even heard one live before. However, after speaking to some trusted members of the forum as well as Greg himself I felt it was time to take the plunge and buy something different. It was a great decision. The banjo sings with a warm tone but still has the edge if I need it to. It has unlimited power behind it but doesn't overplay itself. As I learn control I will get even better but it almost self-regulates volume for me if that makes sense. Everything I have asked it to do seems to be effortless. It has the radiused neck and I love that. I can't wait to play it on all styles of music. So far it seems like it is up to the challenge!

It plays and sounds like nothing else that I presently own, have previously owned, or have ever played. It is awe inspiring, for lack of a better way to describe it. I have looked for over a year for the perfect Mastertone style archtop (I have a weakness for archies....what can I say!), and I finally just decided to have Jarda make one for me, sight unseen. We agreed on a price, and I specified nothing, except that he make me a basic, workhorse, "Mastertone style archtop banjo. I plan to use it at festivals and outdoor, un-miked shows/jams. I am leaving every other decision to him...wood type/grain, stain/color, inlays (if any), hardware...everything. I told him to just surprise me when it arrives! I have no doubt about how the final product will sound and feel. It should be done and ready to ship sometime in July. Look for several fine, American made professional grade banjos to go up for sale over the next few months, as I am finally ready to admit that a Prucha is my favorite banjo.
