So my new Prucha Fall In Love arrived just in time for me to play it at the Didmarton Bluegrass Festival here in the UK.

The banjo provoked a really great response with stacks of listeners commenting on the extraordinary tone and presence the banjo had on stage. There were also a good deal of pickers eager to get hold of the banjo to try for themselves.

The guys in my band were all thrilled with the sound of the Prucha and said they loved the way it sat in the mix, but exploded when I put the hammer down for a break or poped a lick in to fill a hole.

I personally am loving the banjo. It plays so easily and although I have had some trouble finding a string set which suits both me and my playing style and the Prucha banjo, I am delighted by the ease of playability and great tone every time I pick the thing up.

I am absolutely certain that if more people in the UK had the chance to hear see and try a Prucha banjo for themselves, that there would be many MANY more Prucha players around.

Next gig is at The Cornwall Bluegrass Festival and I can't wait!

I've found that a Prucha will work with just about any gauge of strings, but it may need to have some adjustment if you make a big change. I've always used medium gauge strings, and I have a relatively loose head on mine, tap tuned to just slightly flat of G. The tailpiece height makes a big difference in tone & response; if I want my banjo to sound brighter, I crank the tailpiece down a bit, and when I want it sounding more full and mellow, I raise the tailpiece. Pruchas are more responsive in this than most banjos.
