Took My Aquila Reds Up To A

From Bufo Bill on 4/5/2014 1:03:54 PM

Put my fretless set of Reds up to A. Popped the first string, so investigated and found a pinch on the nut. Sorted that out and took the new string and the others up two semitones (to aEAC#E) from Open G (gDGBD). They sound gooood!

I know A is not unusual, but it got me wondering, what unusual tunings do you use with your Polymer strings that sounds cool. Tell us what strings you use too . . .

All the best from Bill. :D

I tune to double A on all modern scale banjos with nylgut and down to double E on minstrel banjos. G takes to much out of the string for me and the tension is too much. David E.
