If I treat my fretboard with lemon oil without removing the strings, will it have an adverse effect on the nylgut?

	DEmery says: 9/24/2012 8:05:25 AM Fred I do use olive oil on gut strings (extends their life and keeps them plyable) and occasionally put a light oil on nylguts to reduce friction. It is a habit for years. If you use some small amount of natural oil on the fingerboard it shouldn't hurt the strings; but I would take a cloth and wipe them down afterward.
