2 Vega's with fishing line and no tone rings...A Deering built Little Wonder and a Folklore SS-5. Both are long neck banjos. Both have a LaBelle wound 4th string.
To look at the banjos, one might think that the sound produced would be very similar.
It is not! The Little Wonder is nice and bright and the Folklore is much bassier. Both are loud.
The head tension and tail piece down force are as close as I can get them but they are two vastly different banjos in terms of tone. The only major difference I can see is the thick "clubby" neck of the Foklore
I like them both and I guess I will adapt the two to different songs...not a bad problem to have
