Put my first set of nylguts on today and have spent some time turning knobs. I've tried to get it to eBEG#B (whatever that is) for the time being. When it briefly is at that tuning, I don't particularly like the sound. I had Bart Veerman make me a topless bridge of mystery wood. We'll see how it turns out in a week or so.

	japus says: 1/1/2012 9:10:15 AM Be patient, eventually they will stretch in, I have mine tuned to DD and do alot of back and forth to G. As far as not liking the sound, I'm not able to elaborate on that. I liked my tones as soon as I started, maybe your ears will accustom.
	Bufo Bill says: 1/3/2012 4:08:03 PM I take it you have the minstrel set Oldpiper? I am on my first set too, but I like the sound they give. My bridge is an all-Cherry wood home made job. I have heard tell of members who prefer non-ebony-topped bridges, and of some who don't have such problems with this bridge type. All personal taste I suppose. Hope you find them worthwhile. 	Oldpiper says: 1/3/2012 4:23:21 PM Bill - No, I'm using Classics. They seem to be almost up to proper tension. Very little tightening any more. I haven't tried G or CC yet, but will.
	Bufo Bill says: 1/4/2012 2:11:50 PM Mine have been on for two days now and the tone seems to be improving, so I think they're all set now. I really like them, they even feel different under the fingertips. If you don't like them but want to stick with nylon, I highly recommend Chris Sands Classical string sets. Elderly Instruments stock them.
