About 8 months ago I replaced steel strings with nylgut's.

It sure has done wonders for us ( wife & I ).Wife plays a dulcimer tuned to DD.

All I had to do is tune to DD and we were off to the wonderful tone of music,.

A nylgut banjo is very compatible with a dulcimer..

I am having a custom neck made which I'm sure will tolerate steel strings, but I've fallen in love with the mellower tone of polymer strings on one of my other instruments.

	john bange says: 2/27/2012 8:58:24 AM I'm using nylon on my Little Wonder. Long Neck aside, the conversion was easy. I needed to replace the tail piece. I have a long neck Folklore coming and will do the same to it. I use fishing line for strings and I love the volume and tone on my banjos without a tone ring
